"I'm quite surprised – as Republicans – that you would be involved in the redistribution of wealth," said Sen. Paul Lowe, Jr., D-Forsyth. "You're talking about a socialistic principle: Taking from somebody who has to give to somebody who doesn't."
The N.C. Senate voted 31-15 – mostly along party lines – to change personnel laws governing state employees.
The bill’s most controversial provision involves opening up otherwise confidential aspects of an employee’s personnel file. Supervisors from other state or local government agencies would gain access to a worker’s file if they interview for another government job. Those supervisors could review “performance management documents.”
A class of students at Jefferson Middle School is on its third math teacher this school year.
The class’ original teacher retired after the first nine weeks of school. Next came retired math teacher Cindi Goins who took over for the second and third quarters as a long-term substitute. Recently, though, she had to give up the class when she reached a threshold of being considered a “full-time” worker, which would have forced her off of her retiree health plan onto a high-deductible plan. Another retired teacher has come in to finish out the school year.

Message From Senator Paul A. Lowe, Jr.
This past week I had the pleasure of meeting with UNC Chapel Hill's Director of Public Affairs, and The Director of Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County, along with the Board PR Chair of Johnson County! It was an honor getting their insight on current issues in Forsyth County and North Carolina.
Senator Paul A. Lowe, Jr.
